Take 2...

So ok that wasn't the best start. The house hunt, subsequent move and holiday events of the summer got on top of me!

Anyway, as we enter September, lots of cool things happening.

First, we've had the launch of Google's new browser Chrome. I like it but must say finding it hard to drag myself away from the comfort of Firefox. Of course, there's been tons of coverage of the launch this week and from what I've been reading the jury is still out. I think it's only a matter of time before Google can match the appeal of the Firefox plugins we all know and love. The best thing about Chrome for me is the quicker speed with which it's tabs load. My biggest bugbear with Firefox is it crashing when I open too many tabs (as I have the bad habit of doing!) Looking forward to seeing how it develops.

Last week the all new and improved Edelman UK site was launched. It really is gorgeous, reflecting Edelman's prominent and growing position in the digital communication space.

September is also the arrival of the new graduates at Edelman. This was me and four others this time last year. I met them all on their welcome lunch last year and they're all definitely future Edelman stars.

Also just came back from holiday to see that Amanda Mooney has posted that Mad Men are now on Twitter which I think is such an awesome, yet simple, idea. Such a personal medium and the fact that they are following their followers is a just so enticing. Started to watch the show but fell behind unfortunately - loved the concept and the writing is brilliant. Will definitely be following Tweets from Don Draper et al. Cool stuff!

My Very First Post

So on this rainy May bank holiday evening, having put it off for weeks, I've taken the plunge and registered Tipping the Scales, a title attributed to my hopeless indecisiveness; a frustrating Libran trait.

And believe me it's taken a while to get to this point. I've been AGONISING over setting up a blog for several reasons but mainly because I've been working in a fantastic digital PR team for over a year now and being able to name several of my colleagues, past and present, as some of the most prolific PR bloggers in the country, it was pretty daunting.

But in short, some of the things to achieve from this blog are:
  1. Disciplining myself to write more frequently and develop my writing skills for the web in particular
  2. To share and document learnings and experience of digital PR through the eyes of a relative newbie
  3. To join the wider conversation, blogging about other things that interest me so that includes the media, current affairs, celebrities, London, music, film, literature, my family and friends and probably other things like holidays, festivals and other fun stuff I've spotted or heard about

LOL - so reading this intro post back, this all seems pretty unfocused. There is no concrete life plan for this blog, but I'm hoping the content will develop over time. As a wise blogger named Jason once said, over the coming weeks and months, I will find my flow (hopefully) :-)
